Your Anger Is Making You Miss Your Blessing
The Story of the Man Pushed into the Pool
While cleaning this morning, I decided to listen to a Joel Osteen message, Declare Favor. If you’re familiar with Osteen’s messages, he always starts with a joke. Sometimes they are corny; sometimes they are funny; but this joke was a sermon in and of itself.
The Set-Up
The story takes place in the backyard of a wealthy man’s home. He was throwing one of his well-known “eccentric” parties. In his backyard was a huge pool filled with sharks and alligators. He announced that whoever swam across the pool would get anything they wanted from him.
Splash
Within a few minutes, a man splashed into the pool. He swam rapidly as he dodged alligators and sharks. He finally made it to the other side of the pool.
When he got out of the pool, the wealthy owner impressively declared the man’s bravery and stuck to his promise.
He asked, “What do you want me to give you?”
The man replied, “What I want more than anything else is the name of the person who just pushed me in.”
