ChangeDAO’s hackathon spirit

I’m Peter Upapong, ChangeDAO’s Platform Lead. My responsibility, along with our team of developers, is to ensure the bold vision of ChangeDAO is brought to life in all aspects of our product, from smart contracts to user interface.

Hackathons are in our DNA. David, Jeff and I first connected last year as part of ETH Global’s event, Scaling Ethereum, a community event aimed at inspiring new ideas and product solutions within the Ethereum ecosystem. While the actual product you crank out during these events typically doesn’t last, meaningful connections are made. Still today, we leverage the hackathon spirit, energy and togetherness to build ChangeDAO as one unified team.

ChangeDAO’s hackathon. This past weekend, the entire ChangeDAO dev team participated in our own hackathon aimed at edging toward the launch of our NFT marketplace. Last week, our ace solidity dev deployed our smart contracts to Ethereum’s testnet, making this all-team coding coordination possible. The dev team smashed through our goals of building out our core database/middle-layer, and developing a fully functioning changemaker onboarding process, to enable the crafting of sovereign smart contracts.

The Flow. Reflecting on the weekend, I leave with a heightened sense of appreciation for the amazing dev team we have at ChangeDAO. My favorite aspect of a hackathon is not only the team building, but finding that “flow” in coding where being dialed in moves things forward swiftly, and the instant feedback loop you gain from being on the line with your team across the entire stack. If you are aware of “flow” in the context of creating art, music, sports or coding — it is a beautiful thing to witness and I am incredibly proud of the dev team evolving to a platform team.
