Changemaker Kevork Mourad At Gm Coffee NYC
I’m pleased to start announcing the changemakers we get to uplift at the gm coffee for change NFT.nyc event, starting with New York-based artist and visual storyteller, Kevork Mourad.
Fittingly, I met Kevork last year during NFT.nyc — inside the Postmasters Gallery — one of the pioneering digital art galleries where we also get to host you for gm Coffee NYC. :)
Kevork and I spent the night connecting about the traditional art world, the confluence of innovation and art, how art as NFTs must be used to make the world a better place now, and especially our shared love for the poetry of Kahlil Gibran. It was one of those special and rare moments that could only happen in New York City.
Kevork and I developed a meaningful relationship that evening; and it has been my honor to work with him personally over the past eight months to bring his upcoming genesis NFT project to life as a genuine collaborator. And on behalf of the ChangeDAO team, we are thrilled that Kevork’s NFT project will be one of the first to launch in our marketplace.
Let me introduce you to Kevork:
Kevork Mourad. Kevork (born 1970 in Qamishli, Syria) is an internationally recognized visual artist and a member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble. His art creates portals to tangibly explore ancient world cultures, establishes a modern language to dialogue with ancestors, and connects us to our mystic source of creativity. He is known for his classic techniques of monotype on fabric, ink drawings, large-scale sculpture, and performing live drawing and animation with musicians. His animated film, Four Acts for Syria, received the Robert Bosch Stiftung Prize for Short Animation in 2016. His works are exhibited around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, World Bank, Spurlock Museum of World Cultures in Illinois and the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris. Kevork received his Master of Fine Arts in Book Illustration and Painting from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts in Armenia and has lived in New York since 1999.
