A shockingly high paying Job in India which only a few know

You too will be shocked to know it.

IT in India is a high paying job. You are the crème de la crème if you are in IT. But this is what has happened with the advent of radio taxi and/or app taxi services in Bangalore.

After my BE in computers, I got into a small US based IT company which paid me just 9000/- per month after all deductions. Despite this I was happy because I belonged to the Richie Rich, top 15%, of India(How Rich) . My happiness soon turned into frown as i was made to work day and night and even 3–4 shifts sometimes (36–48hrs with little sleep).

As soon i completed 2 yrs i shifted to a far better job. Over the past few years i have manged to have a decent salary and a stable 10–12 hrs of work. I was happy again but only till i heard this one unfortunate night.

I took one of the Radio Taxi one late night from office to home. I started having a casual chat with the cab driver on various things. Then i starting asking about the business he makes in a day. This what he said

He works between 11 am in morning till upto 11 or 12 in night.
He gets about 5–7 rides a day and makes about 2000 on a avg day.
Of this he pays about 500 to the Radio Taxi/App provider.
He pays about 400 for fuel.
He spends about 100 for tea, snacks, food and a smoke after food.

This means he makes about 900–1000 per day. He said on Sundays he works only half a day. So on the whole he makes a minimum 28,000 per month.

For someone who knows only Kannada with nursery english having hardly done matriculation(10th, definitely not more) gets paid more than a BE graduate who knows more than 10 languages (spoken and computer).

If for a moment you think this was a outlier. Here is what another driver told me of a more popular cab services.

He makes about 1,20,000 rs
Of this he pays about 40,000 to the Taxi App provider.
Assuming he pays about 35,000–40,000 for fuel.
He makes about 40,000.

But this guy said the car wasn’t his and that the Taxi App provider got him the car at a loan without any security. So he has to pay a monthly EMI. Assuming this is about 10,000 pm . He still makes a cool profit of 30,000.

Advent of these APP based taxi operators have brought in huge moolah for these cabbies of India. A cabbie earns more than a software engineer, that too for 1/10th the effort.
