BUFFALO — On the same week his dad, former Pro Bowl tight end and Dan River football coach Ferrell Edmunds, is to be enshrined in the Dan River Athletics Hall of Fame, Buffalo Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against the Texans.

It’s the first time Edmunds has earned the honor.

Edmunds had one of five takeaways against the Texans. He picked off Houston quarterback Davis Mills’ pass in the first quarter, which led to a Buffalo touchdown on its next drive.

He led the team in tackles with five, while also defending a pass. Edmunds currently leads the team in tackles with 21 total in four games. Fourteen of those tackles have been solo.

Buffalo (3–1) returns to action Sunday when it travels to Kansas City, Kansas, for a matchup against the Chiefs at 8:20 p.m.
