DANVILLE, Va. — River City Sports announced its 2024 All-Metro Softball Awards and Teams Monday afternoon.

Chatham junior Cora Liggon and Tunstall junior Colby Eastwood were named Co-Players of the Year after leading their respective squads this season.

Liggon led the Cavaliers to an 11–10 finish, including an 8–4 mark in the Dogwood District, and an appearance in the Region 2C quarterfinals where they fell 3–2 to Liberty. She was an ace in the circle, leading the region in ERA (2.35) and strikeouts (133), while posting a 7–9 record. Liggon was a killer at the plate as well, leading the region in home runs (four) and finishing second in RBI with 22, while hitting .338.

Eastwood played a vital role in the Trojans’ 10–9 finish, including a 4–5 mark in Piedmont District play. Tunstall also made an appearance in the Region 3D quarterfinals where it fell to William Byrd in eight innings. She went 9–7 in the circle with a 2.98 ERA and 112 strikeouts, good enough for second in the region. Eastwood was also crucial at the plate where she hit .438 with a home run and 13 RBI.

Liggon was named pitcher of the year as well.

Tunstall’s Harper Lovelace was selected as Rookie of the Year after leading the region in batting average with a .492 and RBI with 23, while smacking a home run, seven doubles and three triples for the Trojans.

Chatham skipper Allie Reid was selected as Coach of the Year after leading the Cavaliers to an 11–10 record, including an 8–4 mark in the Dogwood District, and the Region 2C quarterfinals where the ‘Cavs fell 3–2 to Liberty.
