DRY FORK, Va. — Tunstall held off a late rally from Bluestone to pick up a 5–4 win in non-district action Monday night.

Bluestone (6–4) entered the top of the sixth inning facing a 5–2 deficit, down to its last six outs. The Barons began their rally in the frame when Amelia Whittington made it a one-run contest with her RBI single to center field.

It was the seventh where Bluestone really made things interesting, pulling within 5–4 on Jansyn King’s RBI single. However, freshman Colby Eastwood locked things down from there, getting two straight outs to help Tunstall (6–10) seal the win.

The Barons took the early lead when they got daring on the base paths, sending Brooke Conwell home for a successful steal of home plate and a 1–0 edge.

The third proved the difference as the Trojans plated four runs to take a lead they never relinquished. Eastwood made it a 2–1 game with her two-run double to left and junior Heidi Ellis kept the rally going with her RBI double. Junior MacKenzie Harris rounded out the scoring when she plated Ellis with a double that gave Tunstall a three-run lead.

Julie King pulled Bluestone within two on his solo shot to left that made it a 4–2 contest. Gaby Elliott rounded out the scoring for the Trojans in the fourth on her RBI triple to center that put Tunstall up by three.

Eastwood led the Trojans with a pair of RBIs while Elliott, Ellis and Harris drove in runs as well.

The Barons were paced by Whittington and Jansyn King and Julie King.

Eastwood picked up the win in the circle, scattering four hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out three in 4.1 innings of work. Eastwood picked up the save as well.

Tunstall returns to action Wednesday when it travels to South Boston, Virginia, for a road matchup against Halifax County at 6 p.m.
