‘The most beautiful things in life are not things. They’re people and places and memories and pictures. They’re feelings and moments and smiles and laughter.’

In the past few months, I have experienced a series of chance encounters.

After months of loneliness and isolation, these connections felt like a breath of fresh hope, fun and laughter. I was surprised how quickly they fell into my life; synchronicity, lessons, and reflections carefully sown beneath each encounter.

Meet Reese

A tall, fuzzy, chequered shirt-wearing guy. He rocked up at the café I was working in, asking if he could put his poster in the window. I felt an instant pull, a magnetic gravity; a playfulness I had not felt in such a long time.

Meet Katie

A natural beauty, beanie-wearing, warmth radiating being. A mutual friend had put us in touch, knowing that we had both been looking for potential housemates. After attending a house viewing, in which we pretended that we had known each other for years, I fell in love.

Meet Jane

A luminescent, plaited hair, feather hat-wearing lady; prana sealing her skin. She mentioned the words ‘Shamanic Healing’ and I knew she was part of my path. We arranged to go on a walk together and laughed about the grueling and ever expansive process of continuous growth.

As I spend more time with each of these beautiful beings, I began to notice what each was reflecting within and around me.

They were a catalyst back to my own being.

The Story of Reese

A pure joy initiator.

Playful, witty, laugher filling his lungs.

Slow, grounded, sometimes sleepy; as if he had just woken from a restful slumber. Excitable, spontaneous and self-questioning, yet great at deflecting.

Reese showed me the pure joy in every moment. He showed me what life was like without the to-do lists, chores and serious s**t. He awakened a part of my playful self, which had been sleeping for so long.

We went on impulsive adventures, turning the steering wheel left, left and left. We explored abandoned mine shafts in the icy, cold rain. We ran freely in the night through fields of black, velvet cows.

We ate rice rolled in vine leaves and drank a collection of pot-fired tea. We shared our hopes, our fears and our expansive dreams.

My playful feminine came back to life.

And my busy, distracted mind learned how to become grounded.

To build dreams brick by brick and not become overloaded.

My innate listener and deflector noticed that his deflection was my deflection; the desires, wants and needs that I was not voicing.

And I thank the cosmos for this gentle reminder.

That life is for laughter, love and wonder.

And so, I grew.

The Story of Katie

A hugger at heart.

She embraced me in her loving arms.

And I realised…

I had not given myself this love in so long.

Her purity and clarity and love-ability blew me away.

Her voice in harmony with the sound of my soul, as we strummed our beaten guitars and sang soft, sweet melodies under a moonlit sea.

A friendship so deep, so pure, so real, in a matter of moments.

We shared stories of similar challenges; a newfound life filled with much-needed self-care. We laughed as we both said simultaneously ‘there is no wrong or right’ just ‘the truth of the perspective of that person.’

And so, I grew.

Into a gentle being, laced with love and self-care.

I learned how to accept love in all forms. How to receive, just for the gift of receiving, and to not feel guilty for my wants, needs, or plans changing.

To embrace my shadow and my light. And to show my shadow side, even if it’s not so bright. To be accepted, however, I showed up in the world.

And so, I grew.

The Story of Jane

She showed me power.

The rising feminine I had been suppressing for so long.

Strength in expressing her soul’s truth.

An aura of a woman in her authority with a heart centered clarity.

We shared stories of soul mates, struggles, soul contracts and lessons. We shared frustration and sadness and repeating cycles of non-completion.

We knew that ‘I’m okaaaaaaaaay’ was only the surface.

She taught me it was safe to go deeper and express how I was really feeling.

And so, I grew.

Into a wiser woman, with an almighty knowing.

And a newfound strength to step up and share my story.

The Keys to My Reflection

These soul connections showed up almost simultaneously, sparking a series of reflections; keys to the doors that needed to be unlocked within me.

They also stirred a powerful realisation.

Perhaps this so-called ‘expansive’ and ‘awakening’ life doesn’t have to be so lonely. Perhaps, we deserve to be loved and supported and guided to become the best versions of ourselves, whilst having fun along the way.

Perhaps, we are constantly attracting the right people, at precisely the right time. And perhaps, if we can bounce with other people’s energies, self-growth can become people and places, memories and pictures, feelings and moments and smiles and laughter.

Without endless hours of meditation.

Without devoted practises in which we shut ourselves away.

Without over analysing every aspect of ourselves.

But by simply noticing, ‘huh.’

‘I like how this playfulness feels.’

‘Her power inspires me.’

‘I choose to integrate more of this love into myself.’

So, next time you experience a chance encounter, don’t be afraid to follow its lead. Let your intuitive impulse lead the way and allow yourself to receive the beautiful experiences, reflections and deep connections that life has lined up for you.

And no matter how fleeting these encounters may be, your higher self knows exactly where you are and where you want to be.

Allow the lessons to gently unfold, embrace the joy and let go when it’s old.

For your story is your creation. And your connections are your path to living your most authentically, aligned life.

In which love, laughter and joy are most definitely allowed.
