Reflections on Purpose and Life
Through three short poems and a companion essay
(an American cinquain (2/4/6/8/2 syllable count))
to live
that’s my purpose
nothing more, nothing less
witness and experience all
that’s soul’s
(another American cinquain)
writers
speak for yourself
no we in your mirror
humanity does not mean we’re
the same
Note: I’ve previously implored writers to write as much as possible in the first person because it presents as more powerful writing and an authentic way to connect with readers.
Today my point is different. I’ve previously applied Bono’s lyrics,
“One love, one blood
One life, you got to do what you should
One life with each other
Sisters, brothers
One life, but we’re not the same
We get to carry each other, carry each other
One”
