A Complete Game?

The Closing Innings of Baseball Visualization 2016

This week submissions have been a little light. With just over a week to go before we close out #BaseballViz2016, submissions are starting to trend more toward individual teams. The Roy Holliday submissions above are the lone exceptions, possibly since no one thought the Phillies would be leading the East or even above .500 at this point in the season.

A Little History

Earlier this week, I wrote a post on the history of infographics. From Broadside to Infographic, is a fun, short, and informative read. Be sure to check it out.

As a result of that post, a new type of submission has begun rolling in. Pictures of old baseball broadsides painted on wooden doors, barn walls, and even an old cement barrier. We are trying to collect more of these, so please share if you have any. If we can get just a few more, we will publish something interesting.

Time for the Closer?

So with just a week or so remaining, it is time to get any last submissions in. We will do a final push for voting next week. Post to our wall on Facebook, drop us a line on Pinterest or Instagram, check out our new formats on Tumblr and Slideshare, hit us on Twitter #BaseballViz2016, or just comment below.

Closing thought

Is the Blue Jays infographic on the left too long? Is anyone really going to read all of that? What is the target audience? What outcome should the author expect? Here is a link to the original post by Alehandro Colmenarez. Let us know your thoughts.

Baseball Visualization Challenge is a concept created by Corsair’s Institute. Neither this competition nor Corsair’s Institute is not associated with the MLB in any way. Our visualization expertise is second to none. Our softball team loses in games where the other team forfeits.
