We ended the month of April with a couple of original submission to the 2016 Baseball Visualization Challenge. You can follow along via Pinterest, Pearltrees, Instagram, or the #BaseballViz2016 hashtag on Twitter. There is still plenty of time to submit a favorite you’ve discovered online. Hopefully, readers of this article, might attempt to build their own as well.

Corsair’s would like to thank Doug Duffy and Joe Warbington again for their submissions, but also for the great content they were willing to share for this article.

Learning From The Experts

Click below to learn how Doug mined, cleaned, and charted his data. He used a combination of Javascript and R to build his submission. It a short and informative read that we think you’ll enjoy. Doug also shares additional links to other baseball theme infographics he has created.

Joe works with the great folks at Qlik. He was able to provide us with a pair of videos. The first is roughly 11 minutes long and speaks to the process used to create the online BI tool he submitted and featured on the NCAA site.

The second video is more geared for those just getting started with Qlik. You can view it here, but be sure you have some time (it is nearly an hour long).

When Are The Original Infographics Coming?

Business Intelligence tools are powerful, thoughtful, and have nice visualization. But what about some original infographics with innovative graphics and killer images?

For those looking to try their hand, consider some of these platforms. Canva is one of my favorites. It is sleak and simple to use. Piktochart is also very popular among online tools. Of course many folks still prefer desktop solutions like Adobe and Powerpoint.

What is your favorite tool for infographics? Leave a comment below.

Baseball Visualization Challenge is a concept created by Corsair’s Institute. Neither this competition nor Corsair’s Institute is not associated with the MLB in any way. Our visualization expertise is second to none. Our softball team loses in games where the other team forfeits.
