These days, when you talk about music and music promotion, two names will inevitably pop up: Spotify and Apple Music. They are great! As they continue to vie for subscribers, we have access to more data than ever before. The challenge, however, is that there is too much, and often, some of the data isn’t necessarily useful.

At Chartmetric, we are razor-focused on how we can make a meaningful impact with the data we have. Whether you are using Chartmetric to look at current/past playlists, related artists, related playlists, or playlist ranking and curator ranking by genres, we provide insights that you can actually use.

Recently, we researched the impact that Spotify playlists have on artists’ monthly listeners; we found out that in some cases, up to 60% of monthly listening comes from playlists. On average, for the top artists currently on Spotify’s chart, as much as 25% of all monthly listeners come from the top five playlists on which those artists are present.

I think you are starting to get my drift… playlists are important :)

More than that, according to Nielson’s 2016 U.S. year-end music report, on-demand audio streaming has now grown to 38% of total audio consumption (albums + track equivalents + on-demand audio streaming equivalents) to become the largest share of consumption.

With these trends continuing, we are pleased to announce that Chartmetric came out of beta today, and we feel more confident than ever about the product. After a user survey, we came up with a pricing structure. All current users are given a 14 days to 30 days of trial period, but will have to choose one of the paid plans as below.

This new version brings a lot of new features, of course. Let me explain each one.

Let’s start with the artist page. You will notice that we added a shiny new design for the top information panel. We also added Deezer followers, Bandsintown followers, and Last.fm listener counts. This information makes the artist profile richer than ever.

Artist Profile

The Related Playlists section got an upgrade as well. It loads much faster, and doesn’t show the playlists this artist is already in.

Related Playlists

The improved playlist profile shows Deezer followers as well as Spotify followers, in case we find the playlist under the same name on the Deezer platform. We also show tags that are generated from the tracks included in this playlist.

The curator page also got a nice upgrade. Total playlist followers and maximum playlist followers are shown at the top, along with some design updates.

Curator Page

Last but not least, we improved the report page. Now you can select the artist you want to generate a report on, and also instantly download the report in CSV format.
