Battery quality : It really turns out to be one of the hardest and most important problems in the world. Since its introduction to the rechargeable category, lithium battery has been the standard for everyday tech devices and electric vehicle power as the world races toward an electric future that needs something better to keep pace with. The technology that Charzing has been working on would be able to boost energy density by about 300 % and then over the next couple years we’ll push it to bring improvement in scales of production.

Battery startups are trying to build better batteries with lower costs and better performance and in near future some big improvements are coming in lithium ion chemistry as they have reached its theoretical limits.

Charzing’s Kada is a materials startup company that was founded 9 years back with the mission of moving us to a new generation of battery chemistry and this new generation will enable further advances in energy density that will allow electric vehicles to go further and be cheaper as well as make way for better consumer devices.

Electric vehicles is the place where solid state batteries will be required to deliver the highest performance and then as we are able to produce the material at a larger and larger scale, it will bring down its cost.

Further to bringing down the cost of the battery we would want to be in every passenger electric vehicle produced and to do that we have replaced the graphite in today’s batteries with materials like silicon. Silicon anode batteries can deliver a better performance and form a cheaper product. Graphite anode material and a metal oxide cathode material are then assembled and wound into a cell that would either go into your electric vehicle or your cell phone.

Reduce the Battery size and increase the range

Simplest way to think about an advantage over the current Li-ion battery is that Kada can store twice as much energy and your electric vehicle will need half as many batteries to go the same distance.

If you need half as many batteries it’ll cost you about half as much and this means longer lasting gadgets, cheaper electric vehicles and ultimately a cleaner power grid.

Towards Sustainable Energy

Grid operators and utilities want predictable solar and wind energy harvesting. The way you get to predictable solar and predictable wind grids is to have energy storage coupled with it so that whenever the wind is blowing and charging the battery or whenever the utility needs the power you are there. Era changing developments in Chemistry and Material science has led to Kada which is going to be a huge accelerator in being able to replace most of the fossil fuels around the world.
