Hello Son

Your face in the picture (above) pretty much summerizes your very first solid food experience.

This week, we first started by mixing some boob milk with rice cereal and the result was pretty amusing for us. Not so much for yourself.

Your mother proceeded to strap you into your highchair, securely fastening the five point harness and adjusting the sholder cushions for comfort. It looked like she was prepping you for a space shuttle mission.

While she was prepping you to eat, I ignorantly asked why the bib had a pocket? We both didn’t know, but soon we realized that having a pocket in the bib was a stroke of genius considering most of the food that enters mouth doesn’t always go to the inside of the stomach.

After all the prep was done and you were all strapped in, you were ready for your your first spoonful of food. I don’t know it was the was texture or the taste, but you made a “whatthehellisthissh1t” face and flailed your arms.

Shortly after a few spoonfuls of the rice cereal, we realized that being strapped into the highchair wasn’t necessary and proceeded to try again in the bumbo seat (foam seat, thanks Jarrod/Alaina). Unfortunately, we weren’t any more successful.

The following day, while I was eating an apple, I decided to let you taste and it, and quickly realized that you liked it! This gave us the idea to try applesauce and rice cereal with much better results.

We watched to our delight as you ate apple sauce, and then we mixed the rice cereal in there and you started to eat it. You made a face or two, but overall I think you enjoy eating from a spoon.

So far we’ve introduced apples, rice cereal and just yesterday, sweet potatoes. We have most of this on HD video so you can re-live the experience. BTW, HD video currently is at least 720 lines of resolution. When you are old enough to understand this and read these blogs, I will be interested to see what you say about the quality from my ancient tech.

Well, thats all for now! Love you son.
