Incredible Megadeth cover, an awesome songwriting app, your own personal drummer and more!

Hey everyone, happy Sunday! I’m so glad you’re reading this, because there’s a lot of great guitar going on this week. From new albums to new apps and more. Let’s get right to it.
TabBank review — The developer of TabBank let me beta test the app before it came out this week. I geek out about music and apps all the time, so this app was something I was really excited to try out.
If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can create songs with lyrics, chord charts and tab all from your iOS device. You can also go to any chord/tab site and use the app’s extension to pull all that tab info right into the app. This way you can save all the cover songs and your own songs right inside of TabBank.
The app is super easy to use, and it also looks pretty good too. Go check out my full review here.

Get Inspired! — Have you ever sat down to write music and nothing came out? You wouldn’t be the first. It’s happened to all of us. Thankfully though, there’s a way you can make more of your own “luck” when it comes to getting inspired.
I took ideas from some of my favorite books I’ve read and more, and put them into this post. I hope after reading it, you’ll try some of the ways to get inspired. Let me know how it goes!
Amazing cover of Megadeth’s Holy Wars — A video has been popping back up from Ben Woods. In the video, Woods covers Megadeth’s Holy Wars. It’s truly an awesome cover.
I first heard of Ben when Jude Gold was interviewing him on his podcast, and I was so psyched that I picked up his Metal Classics for Fingerstyle Guitar Book. It has songs like Bark At the Moon, Nothing Else Matters, Flying High Again, and more. If you want to get into this style, be sure to check it out.

Get your guitar in tune with the world — If you’ve ever looked at your guitar tuner, you’ll know that the A string is tuned to 440 hz. There’s been a debate going around that if you tune to 432 hz your guitar will be more in tune with the earth.
Check out samuraiguitarist’s explanation on YouTube. He plays a lot of great examples, and I gotta admit, I did like how 432 sounded (although stick around for the whole vid). What do you think?
EZ Drummer 2 — I’ve been writing more and more songs at home, and I want to get an idea of how the guitar parts would sound in the context of a full band. I can lay down my own bass parts, but I don’t always have access to a live drummer.
I picked up the awesome EZ Drummer 2, and have been getting great drums for all of my demo songs. The tones and grooves are good, but my favorite part of the app is that it lets you Tap 2 Find. For a non drummer, you can tap on your mouse, and then the app will find a groove that’s similar to what you tapped in.
It’s super powerful, and is a easy program to use. It’s typically under $150 bucks, and I feel like it’s well worth the price. Check it out here.
Homey by Chon — Homey, by the band Chon is my guitar album of the week. I just started getting into the band this year, and I’m glad I did.
They remind me of Minus the Bear, with their clean but trippy guitars, and chopped up drums and bass. There’s loads of candy for your ears all over this album.
The guitar lines are really great, and unlike Minus the Bear, Chon plays in mainly happier, major keys, so it’s a perfect album to play during the Summer.
2 of my favorite songs from this San Diego, CA band are The Space, where they employ filters on the entire track to make it really dreamy, and lots of whammy, and Nayhoo, which is one of the only tracks that features vocals on the album. It shows how even in something like hip hop, you can still have guitar heroes.
That’s about it for now friends! Have a great week, and have fun playing guitar.
Last minute update: The great folks over at Anchor just featured Amped Up! in their app! If you want to check out guitar radio with lots of cool stories, head over to anchor.fm/chasingsound
