During Winter, people usually prefer having solid consumption of food. Liquid intake is less when we compared to people in summers. There are very little chances that we feel dehydrated in winters. But that doesn’t mean our body doesn’t require water.

Human body weight is approximately 60% of water. Our body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because your body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it’s important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water. The amount of water you need depends on a variety of factors, including the climate you live in, how physically active you are, and whether you’re experiencing an illness or have any other health problems.

How much is enough water?

Knowing how much water is recommended is the first step to making sure you are drinking enough. There are many varying opinions on the web about how much water is enough, but here is the easiest equation:

Your body weight (in pounds) divided by 2 = your recommended water intake (in ounces)

For example, I weigh 120lbs. So, 120 divided by 2 = 60. My recommended water intake is 60 ounces of water per day.

However, I typically try to get at least 100 ounces a day. Then, if I don’t reach my goal, I’m still getting more than enough water.

Some signs that you aren’t getting enough water every day include:

  • Headaches
  • Poor concentration
  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation
  • Food cravings
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Dry skin or lips
  • Dark yellow urine
