At the end of August 2017, we sold the first chatbot template. It was a digital marketing agency from Sydney that had hundreds of clients in the UK.

The very next day they asked us if we can help them do some customization for the bots they purchased. They wanted to set up a few more sequences in order to improve the conversion even more (34% CTR wasn’t enough for them, okay :)).

They were ready to pay and asked to send an invoice immediately.

But we replied “No”….

At the very beginning, we decided that botmakers.net is a pure marketplace and we don’t take custom projects.

Then the templates sales started to take off.

More and more people started buying templates and as the result asking us if we can help with the bot customization.

It was a clear sign for us that we’re losing money, our buyers are not 100% satisfied and we have to fix it somehow.

The Packages 📦

Today we’re taking the first step trying to address this issue.

We’re introducing packages (the very first version actually). Packages let individuals and small business owners order custom chatbot development with a flat fee.

Currently, there are just two packages available.

In the nearest future, once we’re receiving feedback from developers and buyers we’ll add new and change existing ones.

What does it mean for Developers? 👩‍💻

Well, the list of benefits is long but let’s focus on the most important ones.

1. High-quality new projects

It’s a new source of projects. What’s more, good quality projects.

Before we even start requirements clarification we ask customers to do a little down payment. That proves that they are committed and not just “exploring” bots. Only high quality, educated and committed clients that pay.

I won’t be a surprise if I tell you that sometimes developers lose clients just because they didn’t find a good way of how to charge them. Usually, that’s happening because clients and bot developers are based in different countries.

We at Botmakers handle that as well. We automatically charge the client pretty much like Upwork or any other freelance services do so you don’t need to worry about that.

4. Chatbot pricing and “Smart” up-selling

It’s always a good idea to follow up the buyer one he or she purchased a template and offer some help for an extra fee.

But from our experience developers are struggling to offer their development services. They may not know how much to charge and what to offer.

With Packages, we basically do that for you.

First, we sell a template.

Second, we automatically follow up and offering some help.

The client picks what kind of help is needed and immediately see the chatbot customization pricing.
