Let’s talk bitterness, shall we? A bitter person struggles with speaking and seeking peace. In layman’s terms, they find refuge in negativity. They also bask in anger, sadness and resentment. To further expound, some characteristics of a bitter person can look like, hostility, jealousy, constant criticism, or rehearsing the past repeatedly (past thoughts are on AUTO and holding a grudge is comfortable to them.) A person who allows bitterness to rule over them is a person who is not free but, is a prisoner to habitual skepticism and negativity. Bitterness derives from wallowing in self-pity. In translation, this means feeling sorry for oneself. Here’s the thing though, indulging in self-loathing on the consistent basis is the easiest way to remain inactive when it comes to mental expansion and overall happiness.

For exemplification, it is easy to fall into a state of bitterness when; you have not met the goals you wanted to accomplish, when you see other people in a better position than you, or when you have not obtained a certain status (married, engaged, homeowner, job title, parent, etc.)

Listen, being bitter is a choice. I understand life can be cruel and unfair. However, keeping your focus on your past circumstances, being jealous hearted, and constantly being pessimistic will not help you achieve whatever it is you feel that you are lacking. Do you remember when Morpheus asked Neo to pick between the red pill and the blue pill in the first Matrix movie? Apply that method to your life when it comes to being bitter. The choice is literally YOURS. You can choose to have the dark cloud and rain over your head, or you can choose the sunshine. Your forecast is up to you.
