In what countries are the popular games acquiring the most organic traffic?

We’ve selected the most popular games and found out how efficiently they’re acquiring organic traffic. Where in the world are they getting the most and the least organic traffic? To analyze that, we used our Performance Index tool. This is a score scale from 0 to 10 that helped us assess the efficiency of organic traffic acquisition. It takes into account the optimization quality, keyword ranking, and app store visibility. By discovering your growth areas, you can acquire more organic users to monetize your game better.

Findings

In general, there are three main reasons why the Performance Index is low:

  1. Low ranking by key queries, due to which an app fails to acquire organic installs from search. In this case, you may want to work on text optimization and improve the efficiency of external ad campaigns.
  2. Low traffic from Browse/Explore. It’s about the ranking by category and lists of similar apps, or impressions in the store collections. To improve that, you may want to scale up your marketing and ASO strategy.
  3. The app page isn’t optimized well enough. This means that it may be worth taking ASO seriously.

Shortcut Run and Stacky Dash have poor indexing in Ecuador. The country has a small population. There aren’t many iOS users there either. Besides, the games mostly have branded and ad traffic, as evidenced by the lack of text optimization. The games have neither subtitles nor keywords in the titles. The same goes with Roof Rails. Hence the low Performance Index. However, hyper-casual games usually have a different approach to promotion. The focus goes to advertising first as organic installs improve once a game has become recognizable. But those mostly depend on branded queries and traffic that comes from the category tops.

Among Us tells a different story. For example, the game has high Performance Index scores for most countries on App Store. This is mainly thanks to good indexing by a large number of queries and a large influx of traffic from Browse/Explore. In particular, from recommended similar apps. On the contrary, League of Legends: Wild Rift has the low Performance Index in almost all locales. This game too relies on brand traffic and external sources like active promotion by bloggers, YouTube and ads and has very few non-branded organics.
