On November 4th and 5th, we had over 120 techies from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Texas, and even France join us for a gathering here in New Haven, CT to learn, network, and build things together. We held a packed schedule on Day 1 with 13 speakers covering topics like AI, Cloud, and Web.

On Day 2, we had hands-on workshops throughout the day, as well as our Hackathon where teams worked on super cool projects with the goal of helping to encourage girls to get interested in STEM from an early age.

Learning happened, networking happened, hacking happened, games were played, fun was had, and food was eaten (yes, there was also New Haven pizza on Day 2!).

On top of hanging out with all sorts awesome people and learning new things about the tech we work with every day, I personally enjoyed playing with our Microsoft Hololens and HTC Vive — and I think a lot of our guests did too!

The Microsoft Hololens hands-on demo was a hit with the DevFest crowd

I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to making DevFest New Haven happen, especially the following people:

Michael Solati, GDG New Haven organizer and Checkmate developer, we couldn’t have done this without you.

SCSU Computer Science department, especially Lisa Lancor.

Our amazing Checkmate volunteer team of 7 that gave their time to help build our community.

And last, but most certainly not least, our 19 presenters that took the time during their weekend to come out and share their knowledge and come hangout with us.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and we hope to see you all again next year at GDG DevFest New Haven 2018!

Make sure to join GDG New Haven meetup group for all of the great events in 2018 leading up to DevFest.
