Stop Negative Thoughts & Emotions

Negative thoughts are usually a result of traumatic events in your past. Stop your negative thoughts, so that they don’t prevent you from getting on with your life.

The first step is to identify what’s making you feel negative. There are some broad factors that could be causing this such as a bad day at work, a relationship issue, etc.

Once you know what’s causing your negativity, try to find ways to get away from it or change your mindset about it so that you have more control over how you feel throughout the day.

Self-talk: people who have experienced trauma can often have repeated, intrusive thoughts of the event even when not triggered by anything in their current environment. Talking to yourself about how you feel is proven to be an effective tool for dealing with these negative thoughts.

The Importance of Positive Thinking

Positive thoughts and attitudes are key to success in most areas of life. In order to be happy, confident, and successful, one needs to have a positive outlook on the things they do.

In most cases, positive thoughts lead to positive attitudes and actions. When one is full of negative thoughts and feelings, it is easier for them to slip into depression or anxiety attacks. It is difficult to live a healthy lifestyle when one’s mental state is constantly negative.

The connection between what we think and how we feel has been scientifically proven by the mind-body connection theory as well as some other studies that show that those who exhibit more optimistic thought patterns live longer than those who don’t.

Eliminating Negativity with Mindfulness

The ability to be present in the moment is the key to eliminating negativity. Mindfulness is about being present in the here and now. It can be a challenging practice for some people due to a busy work schedule, constant distractions, and their own minds.

The practice of mindfulness is becoming more popular as people look for ways to reduce stress and eliminate negativity from their lives. Mindful awareness can be practiced anywhere — at home, at work, or wherever you are.

Numerous studies have been conducted on how mindfulness affects brain activity and improved mental health of subjects who participated in mindful practices. One study found that mindful meditation also enhanced cognitive function, such as memory and attention span.

Contemplation on Gratitude

When we focus on gratitude, it can have a positive effect on our bodies and minds. Research has shown that practicing gratitude can help lower blood pressure, boost the immune system, reduce depression, increase patience and kindness, enhance happiness levels, improve sleep quality, and more.

Gratitude journal writing prompts are easy to come up with. You can write about what you are grateful for in the past week or what you are looking forward to in the future. It’s also good to think about people who have positively impacted your life or things you’ve done for others.
