A few weeks ago, the Checkr team made the trip down to Dallas, Texas to attend the 2018 Collaboration in the Gig Economy conference—an annual gathering of gig economy companies, staffing suppliers, and workforce buyers.

Below are a few highlights that stood out to our team:

Mobile’s becoming increasingly important.

Technology’s quickly reshaped the way we live our lives. Nowadays, we can book a trip, order groceries or shop for a new house, all on our smartphones. So it should come as no surprise that job candidates have come to expect this level of ease and efficiency from their future employers. To meet these new expectations and convert more candidates, you need to ensure that all parts of your onboarding process are optimized for mobile, whether that’s implementing easy apply options across all your job postings or investing in a background check solution that supports mobile.

It’s time to embrace AI.

Artificial Intelligence seems to be everywhere these days, and this year’s conference was no exception. However, while interest in AI is at an all time high, adoption rates of the technology are slowly climbing. As you start to think about your own hiring and onboarding process and identify bottlenecks, look for vendors that are using AI and machine learning who can help you automate certain parts of your process and ultimately, increase productivity.

The new world of work is here.

Our VP of Industry Strategy, Kristen Faris took the stage at this year’s conference to talk about the changing world of work and how companies can best adapt to the new economy. She covered off on a few easy changes companies can make, including investing in technology to remove friction in your onboarding process, providing transparency and real-time ETAs, and working with vendors that can deliver data-driven insights and help you better understand your customers and clients.
