Have you met a chess snob? He’ll say online chess is not “real chess”. He’ll say anything shorter than a 2 hour game is not “real chess”.

There are a variety of chess variants. I’ve heard of a few–but short time control games are not among them. I understand how playing online games feels different from playing “over the board” (OTB) chess. I can partially imagine what it might be like to play in a tournament.

Some people say that ONLY “long classical games” are REAL chess.

I disagree. If we’re talking about a game that uses chess pieces but goes by different rules for movement or original placement…
