Facts I learned from local people:
- Vatnajokull is Iceland and Europe’s biggest glacier, reaching a thickness of 1km. Beneath it lies a volcano.
- Puffins go to South Africa in the winter to find food and return to Iceland in the spring and summer to nest, typically from May onwards.
- The volcano named Katla is located in Iceland, and it is associated with a female name.
- A ridge is a geological feature consisting of elevated land. We drove through a mountain area where there was hot water flowing underneath the ground.
- Reykjavik — Smoky Bay
