The 35-year-old guard might not be long for the Windy City

As expected, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN, Veteran guard Dwyane Wade and the Chicago Bulls will reach a buyout agreement in the “next coming months.” Wade will demand a buyout from the Bulls in search of a contender for his last years in the league. After the Jimmy Butler trade, the Bulls are the last thing to a contender (many mock drafts have them as the worst team in the league). Wade is not looking to be part of a rebuilding squad, so it is in his favor to cut ties with Chicago. At age 35, it would be wise for Wade to look at different options in his small tenure left in the league.

In the lone year Wade had with Chicago, he averaged 18.3 points per game, his worst mark since his rookie year. After trading Butler, Chicago made it clear that they are ready to rebuild and fill their lineup with up and coming stars such as Zach Lavine and Lauri Markkanen.

If bought out, watch for Wade to join his old teammate LeBron James in Cleveland on a minimum contact to try to make a run for one last ring. Wade is also a free agent in 2018, along with LeBron, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony, so he also might sign a one-year deal elsewhere to then sign with one of his buddies in 2018.

Dwyane Wade acted as the veteran and mentor to many of the young Bulls core last year, and this year he could do the same. However, his contract is not favorable for a rebuilding squad that is looking for any cap space for the upcoming free agency. Therefore if bought out, it would benefit both sides, as Wade gets a chance to rejuvenate his last few years in the league and the Chicago Bulls get much-needed cap space.
