Bulls fans should learn his name now

Potential Bulls starter Tomas Satoransky is doing his thing atthe FIBA World Cup this summer. Satoransky is representing the Czech Republic and every person that calls themself a Bulls fan needs to pay attention to his upcoming game where Team USA fares up against Czech Republic on Sept. 1. This will be a game where we can see Satoransky’s evasive gameplay against a very competitive U.S. team. (The only tough part is the game is at 7:30 a.m. CDT)

Satoransky was subtly signed by the Bulls with a three year $30 million contract in day two of free-agency this year through a sign-and-trade with the Wizards, the same team Otto Porter Jr. played on prior to the Bulls. Last year with the Wizards, Tomas Satoransky averaged 8.9 points and 5.0 assists a game while shooting an evocative 48.5% from the field and 39.5% from behind the arc in an average of roughly 27 minutes a game.

Let me also not forget to mention that he averaged a player efficiency rating of 14.1 last year and only averages 1.1 turnovers a game for his entire career. Tomas is very austere as a primary ball handler and with his 6-foot-7 height and big frame he can very easily bully smaller guards, helping him get to the cup with ease where he can dump off passes to bigs or finish himself.

Here is why you should be excited: Satoransky averaged 19.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists a game leading his team to a 5–1 record in the world cup qualifiers. On Aug. 19, Satoransky was Czech Republic’s leading scorer, finishing with 17 as they defeated Hungary, 103–83. Also in the Super Cup Tourney, Czechs beat Poland on the 16th. Satoransky had 12 points, 11 assists and an astonishing zero turnovers.

Despite his successes in a much weaker league, Satoransky brings a lot to the table for this Bulls squad. He will definitely be an upgrade to what they have had at point guard as long as he can stay healthy.

Despite being 27 years old and being drafted with the last pick in the 2012 draft, Satoransky is only entering his fourth season in the NBA. His maturity on the court will help this team a lot.

Satoransky will have a very unique opportunity with the Bulls because he will be responsible for their fluidness and making sure everything meshes well. I don’t think he will have a problem with this. He is a very generous passer and will make sure everybody on the team gets good looks. Plus, he has experience playing with Otto Porter Jr. who is considered one of the leaders of this young Bulls team.

Inserting Satoransky in the starting lineup will make things easier on Zach LaVine and will deter the other teams from doubling LaVine when he gets hot because Tomas is a steady shooter and great off of catch-and-shoot 3s.

I can imagine Boylen will make Satoransky play a bit in the second unit as well. Satoransky might play north of 30 minutes a game this season if he proves himself early and gets the trust of his teammates. Boylen will love putting Satoransky in lineups where he wants to go big, so Satoransky will be very interchangable.

Overall, it’s better off getting to know about Satoransky now so you won’t be shocked later!
