The 2017–2018 NBA schedule has arrived

Only one thing about it matters

The entire NBA regular season schedule for the 2017–18 season was released on Monday evening, confirming the elimination of any “four games in five nights” stretches that had been rumored for weeks. For Bulls, however, there was a much more notable elimination: that of over 20 national TV appearances.

The Bulls have one single national TV game this season: the return of Jimmy Butler to Chicago on Feb. 9 on ESPN. Some quick stats about the schedule: 15 back-to-backs, 10 of which are taking place before the All-Star break. I count around eight games out the last fifteen that might be easy wins due to opposing teams either tanking or resting for the playoffs, but that’s obviously hard to predict (and what is even an easy win for the Bulls?).

Honestly though, absolutely none of that matters. We’ve been waiting for this day for one reason and one reason only:

#TNTBulls

If you can believe it, the Bulls have zero games on TNT this year, let alone at home on a Thursday. Some may see this and be disappointed, thinking, “Darn, we won’t get to see any ridiculous, undeserved wins this season,” but those are glass-half-empty people. Excise them from your life. We are guaranteed to be able to talk about the #TNTBulls at the start of the 2018–19 season, and nothing could possibly make me happier than that sentence. This, and the idea of Lauri Markkanen not being mistaken for a coatrack, are literally all we have. Thank goodness it’s been preserved for another year.

We will break down the schedule in more detail in the coming weeks, but for now, we’ll leave you to day dream about somehow sweeping the Cavs once again.
