The main thing that has held the Bulls back is the defense. With a few games left, it’s crucial this team locks in and plays tough defense. That’s when Patrick Williams comes into play.

The defense took a turn for the worst when Lonzo Ball went out. That’s when reality hit us fans right in the face. With Ball possibly out for the rest of the regular season, the Bulls need some sort of spark to wake them up from this terrible defensive nightmare. The Bulls allowed only106.1 points a game with Ball. Without Ball, the Bulls have allowed 119.8 points a game.

Patrick Williams drew some high praise from some of the league’s best last year. LeBron James had this to say:

“Long arms. He has Kawhi-type hands that I noticed out on the floor, so I knew I couldn’t play with the ball much. And you could tell that he’s just laser sharp on trying to get better and better. . Chicago has a good one.”

With Williams coming back, the Bulls become more versatile defensively. We saw this kid play some really good defense last year, not to mention hecan defend anyway at a high level.

Coming out of college, Williams had a great report on just how good he is defensively that I highly agree with and saw flashes of last year. The report states, “Williams possesses an impressive combination of size, strength, and length, Those traits were particularly impactful on the defensive end where Williams was a force for FSU, especially in off-ball defense.”

This team needs that guy if we’re going to go anywhere in the playoffs. Not to mention Williams also is a really good offensive rebounder, which this team desperately needs.

This team only is going to go as far as the defense takes them. The way the Bulls have been defending lately, that’s definitely not saying much. With Williams returning and Ball possibly back in the postseason, this team defense definitely is looking more promising.
