WICKER PARK — Sneakerheads eager to snag a pair of colorful hiking-inspired Hu NMD kicks from the new Adidas store have been camping out along Wicker Park’s Milwaukee Avenue since Thursday.

Early Saturday, hundreds of bundled up shoppers were lined up in an encampment that stretched as far as Wicker Park Avenue.

Some had slept in tents, others in sleeping bags on the ground, while waiting for the store to open at 11 a.m.

Friends Diante Roberson of Hyde Park and Gerson Molina of Maywood — near the front of the line — told Pipeline they had arrived at 3 p.m. Thursday and spent two nights on the sidewalk waiting to buy the shoes.

Molina was able to call off from his job as a metal refinisher on Friday so he could continue to stand in line.

The Pharrell x Human Race NMD (also known as the Hu NMD) sneaker lineup includes four styles of the shoe in a TR (trail) variation. The tops of the shoes say words like “breathe,” “cloud” and ‘body.” The shoes cost $249.
