The sign says it all.

WICKER PARK — Has it really been four years since Stan’s Donuts opened its first Chicago outpost, in the former Skewerz in Wicker Park? **

Yeah, it has.

In celebration of its 4th anniversary, the artisanal doughnut shop will be giving away a free glazed doughnut with any purchase, such as a cup of coffee or a bottle of juice, at all nine of its locations.

Stan’s Donuts opened on February 6, 2014 at 1560 N. Damen Ave., next to the CTA Damen Blue Line L station in Wicker Park. The doughnut chain is an expansion of a Los Angeles-based staple brought to Chicago by local baker Rich Labriola.

This morning, Labriola was not in the shop (as he was in the early days of Stan’s) but we did meet Miykala Horton, who was behind the counter.

Horton says she’s worked at Stan’s since its Chicago inception.

Based on her experience, the lemon pistachio old-fashioned is one of the best sellers, and a favorite of Wicker Park Stan’s regulars.

Here are a few photos from earlier today.

** there are just 8 days left to support the “Bringing Neighborhood News Back” Kickstarter. Thanks to everyone who has backed #BlockClubChi and helped to spread the word! The Block Club website will launch in April. I am working on longer stories for the launch, as well as smaller posts like this. Send news tips to chicagopipeline@gmail for now.

A top seller, according to Horton.
