Chicas Poderosas launches its Ambassadors Leadership Training global program

Chicas Poderosas launched the Ambassadors Leadership Training, a program that will involve women from 17 countries mainly in Latin America and also Spain, Portugal and the United States, with the aim of strengthening its global community to promote a more diverse media industry. This virtual program will be carried out in 11 weeks, and is supported by Google News Initiative.

The training will provide the ambassadors, who coordinate the local chapters of Chicas Poderosas in different countries, the tools and leadership skills to be able to create, strengthen, and run communities in a sustainable way, with the aim of promoting the leadership of women who work in media.

Specialists from the organization will give workshops on how to create communities, project management, communications, self-awareness, project financing, integral safety, impact evaluation, tools for investigative journalism, and other issues related to Chicas Poderosas. Two ambassadors from each of the following countries will participate: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, United States, México, Perú, Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela, Paraguay and Portugal,

Strengthening our local communities we are going to achieve change and a more diverse media industry, where the voices of women are heard.”

The Ambassadors’ Leadership Training was scheduled to take place as an in-person meeting during a week in Buenos Aires City, in mid April. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the encounter was suspended and Chicas Poderosas worked to transform it into a three-month digital program. Google Hangouts meetings that will happen each week, and the team will follow up virtually with the ambassadors.
