SUGAR SYNTAX — when you write 2 things but one is way smaller than the other but it does the same thing

Week #06

Ok, now Ruby on Rails is deeply sinking into our skin!

It’s incredible the powerful things we can get done by [bundle] installing a gem… basically most things we’ve been doing by hand, one by one, can now be called using a gem… Something that other developers already transformed into magic code, to do the actions we want to perform. Except that we don’t need to write them anymore — we just need to know they exist. There is an entire community of ruby developers, collaborating to make the development with ruby and rails, the best experience possible.

We have now learned the entire process, and all the content has been uploaded into our brain — doesn’t mean that I was able to retain E-VE-RY-THING, but at least I have an impression in my brain of everything that I need to know. Now there is a lot of experimentation and time to dedicate to sync this knowledge deeply inside my veins, and make this workflow as a natural habit, as I slowly turn into a junior developer.

The professors and other developers who have been visiting to share their insights, have told me that it will require a lot of dedication from my end in order to keep the flow.

This course have been a lesson in life, not only it is hard to learn a new language, yes this is like learning japanese, polish or russian. Is a new learning system to implement in my brain. When I was young I use to be very bad at english… only when I moved to London did my english improve a bit. Now where is the land of coding? I would like to move there to improve my flow. I guess I’ll have to deep dive into it, and not let go! With summer time soon approaching Lisbon, and with the beach calling, it will require another deep level of determination, discipline and really really wanting to make it work. Let’s go!
