Le Wagon… the train has just arrived to the departure station. After 9 weeks of intense learning, buddying, cheering, crazy living, having all the doubts in the world, losing faith in the internet, growing some big damn butterflies in my stomach when we finally “killed” that bug… We are now ready to embark on a new journey — a-do-it-by-yourself-now-journey.

Me getting ready for the public presentation of my team’s app Food Buddies (Tinder meets Zomato style)

The journey has just begun and we now have an incredible support system, a community and a coding family to whom we can return to when we are in the thick of creating our own apps — most of us will ;)

The last week of Le Wagon was an incredible sprint through ideation, problem solving, building up an entire app within teams seeing our “baby” grow into a fully working application. The time passed so fast and I cannot believe we just finished the bootcamp. We all have an app built, and we did it ourselves! It’s amazing and magical the change you can make in your life in such short period of time!

Being in Lisbon made it easy and exciting. The city is really tailored for nomads as well as those who want to stay put for a while — incredible quality of life. Lisbon offers the best weather one can ask for along with amazing food and nights out after long days of coding. The beach is only twenty minutes away for weekends of doing nothing but chilling (ok, a bit of studying ;)).

This last month was pretty special as we had the city’s Santos Parties — Festas de S. António, where you can find music in every corner, roads decorated with paper flowers, and everyone, from babies to the grandmothers, sharing the unbelievable energy of the city. Lisbon is getting hotter and hotter in tech, being the dream place for a lot of new innovative startups as well as well established brands who want to be connected to such a buzzing ecosystem. Lisbon is the perfect combination of new and old, of classic and modernization .

In Lisbon magic happens, and it just happened as batch #71 finished the Le Wagon experience in Lisbon. Our Demo Day can be seen here.

For now, I leave you with the best memories of last week, hope you can join Le Wagon Lisbon and give yourself a kick in your skills toolbox…

With love–Mariana Santos
