Colorado Voices: Valencia Martin, Loveland

Valencia Martin lives in Loveland, Colorado with her three kids. She works full-time at Wal-Mart, but her two paychecks a month go almost entirely toward rent and utilities. After that, there’s hardly anything left for her kids. Now, she doesn’t have to choose between filling up her car to get to work or keeping the lights on at home.

She said the $800 a month from the Child Tax Credit helped her “make Christmas happen this year” for her family.

U.S. Senator Michael Bennet invited Coloradans to share how the expanded Child Tax Credit has affected their lives and their communities. If you have a story you’d like to tell, email to share your experience with the CTC.
