If you were a fish
would you wish,
would you wish.
or would you go swimming about?
Would you swim ‘cross the sea,
your heart filled with glee,
or hide near the rocks filled with doubt?
If you were a turtle
would you think it a hurdle
would you think it a hurdle to go?
Would you crawl right along
while singing a song
about all the secrets you know.
If you were an eagle
would you laugh at the beagles,
would you laugh at the beagles all day
as they stood standing there
their tails in the air
not able to fly far away.
If you were a frog
would you dog,
would you dog
all the fishies who come swimming by.
Would you just sit and croak
at the people in boats,
or would you wave, shouting goodbye?
