Snapask, a Hong Kong-based tutoring app, has raised $35 million. The company was founded in 2015.

Toyota announced that its strategic fund will invest $400 million in Pony.ai, self-driving technology company has big presence in both Silicon Valley and Guangzhou, China.

China has been using drones and robots for public health monitoring and announcements to reduce human to human contact. In times like this, high-performing drone deliveries could help too. (link)

Taobao, China’s ebay, was launched during SARS. It would be interesting to see how China will leverage its virus-fighting experience to develop and launch new digital and health products inside China. So far, China has developed an app to trace close contacts an individual or patient may have had. And education apps have seen on average 6x jump in downloads.

Eric Schmidt, former Chairman and CEO of Google, published an Opinion piece in NYTimes about China’s ambition and actions in becoming technology innovator of the world and how U.S. “is not playing to win.” (link)

Not news in China but news in South Korea. South Korea can perform over thousands of tests a day. To reduce potential infections in hospitals, the country has implemented “drive -through” testing. I call this innovation. (link)
