China is the first country in the world to produce porcelain(to avoid confusion, this blog uses porcelain instead of china). Porcelain, as China’s first trade export product, was sought after by European nobles during the European Renaissance.

Chinese porcelain was sold in large quantities in East and Southeast Asia during the Tang Dynasty, but European familiarity with Chinese porcelain began in the Ming Dynasty. During the Ming Dynasty, Europe was in the Renaissance period.

Chinese porcelain has different varieties and manufacturing processes in each dynasty. From the appearance point of view, the biggest change is the Song Dynasty after the Tang Dynasty. Due to the open folk customs in the Tang Dynasty, the aesthetic tended to be bright and gorgeous, which was reflected in porcelain, with richer and more diverse colors.

During the Song Dynasty, people’s aesthetics changed and became simple. At that time, people thought that life taste was more important than power and wealth, and the utensils used in life should conform to this leisurely attitude. Porcelain in the Song Dynasty was mostly based on primary colors, and some had very beautiful texture. For example, “ice crack” is actually porcelain cracking, but it is believed that this texture expresses the vicissitudes of life.
