Last month, Chingona Ventures hosted its inaugural Annual General Meeting in downtown Chicago. Our event brought together several of our esteemed limited partners (LPs) and portfolio companies for a day of insightful discussions, networking, and celebration.

Our Annual General Meeting provided us with an opportunity to showcase our achievements, provide a comprehensive fund overview, and offer valuable insights into the dynamic landscape of early-stage investments, particularly in the Financial Technology space.

In addition, we hosted two-panel discussions, one with portfolio company founders titled Building Consumer Fintech in Today’s Market. The panel was moderated by Founding Partner Samara Mejia Hernandez and included Beatriz Acevedo from Suma Wealth, Tikue Anazodo from Kudos, and Nestor Solari from Sigo Seguros. During the panel, our portfolio company founders offered candid perspectives on how to acquire and retain users, their perspectives on partnerships for early-stage companies, and differentiation strategies. Following, there was a second panel discussion titled The State of Banking and FinTech Opportunity where Grisel Hernandez asked Dr. Gregor Matvos, Chair in Finance at the Kellogg School of Management and Founding Partner, Samara Mejia Hernandez, about their perspectives on the current banking landscape and the considerations and opportunities for early stage FinTech companies.

Following the sessions, the AGM participants were invited to hors d’oeuvres, dinner, and drinks on the picturesque Chicago River. The evening provided an ideal setting for fostering new connections and strengthening collaborations among the Chingona Ventures community. “We are grateful to all of the limited partners and founders who attended our Annual General Meeting,” said Samara. “This event was a special opportunity for the Chingona Ventures community to come together and strengthen relationships, exchange ideas, and celebrate our collective achievements. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who joined us for their unwavering support and commitment to driving innovation and entrepreneurship at the earliest stages.”

Once again, thank you to all of those who attended our event. We enjoyed connecting with you all and the engaging discussions throughout the evening and look forward to bringing our community together again next year!
