Introducing…THE BETA VERSION OF OUR FIRST WEBSITE!

Campfire-Stories aka Humans of FCC

It has been a long journey, and there’s still a lot to work on, but we’ve got enough finished to release the beta version of the site!

In the coming weeks I’m going to write a medium article for the site, but for now I’ll say: it’s a work in progress, but please feel free to leave any feedback , encouragement or motivation in the comments. Here it is: Campfire-stories.

What has everyone been working on?

@thelittleblacksmith — Another week, another cool codepen by thelittleblacksmith! Take a look here.

@chiptus — Chaim Lando has written another interesting article, a part of his series on how to approach solving problems and learning programming. You can see it here.

@trion — Parminder Singh is on the scene with a medium article (and it’s wonderful)! If you’re ever looking for some ways to challenge yourself when you’re bored, this is the article for you. Check it out here.

CONGRATULATIONS TO @azdrian from the Raccoons and Jami Carangan from the Rhinos on getting their first developer jobs last week! Keep us posted on your progress! :)

Opportunities to get involved

As always, if you’re interested in anything below, feel free to message me and we’ll get you sorted. :)

Calling all people who want to be on the Campfire-Stories team. We’re forming the team who will work on code-maintenance, editing stories, finding stories, feature brainstorming, etc.

Calling all people who want to be a part of the Weekly Topic team. We’re forming a team who will help coordinate and set up the weekly topics. We’re going to be moving them to the FCC forums so we can get more people involved in the topics, and aim to get some AMA style talks going with “mini” industry celebrities at some point in the future.

@unsui from the Foxes is the beginning stages of a new project. He’d like to create an open source ERP for Makerspaces. There is a CRM that exists for hackerspaces called Seltzer, but it’d be nice if there was something out there that also did social media automation.

Welcoming the RED-PANDAS and a mystery cohort

I am happy to announce that we will be starting a new cohort this week. We have received such a wonderful response from people, so it is possible that there will be two new animal cohorts joining us. Also, there will be some new members joining all the existing cohorts as well, so if you see someone new in your cohort, feel free to give them a friendly welcome! :)

All right, that’s all for this week everyone. Have a great week and as always, HAPPY CODING!
