The world’s best email app now available also on Android smartwatches.

After having been on the Apple Watch for eight months, Microsoft’s Outlook has finally arrived on the Android smartwatches.

The platform has been the go-to platform for emails and communication on personal computer, and for decades now, most companies in the world have been relying on Microsoft’s Outlook for their email communications.

Saying it is a very popular third-party email app is like saying India has a lot of sexy men. It’s stating the obvious (in case you couldn’t get that analogy).

With the interface being compatible across most operating systems on the smartphones, tablets and computers with a provision to be accessed via the browser on the Internet, Microsoft’s Outlook is omnipresent. Well almost. By bringing it to your Android smartwatch just gave Microsoft the right to use that title!

Let us talk about what you can do with the app on your Android Wear.

Microsoft’s Outlook app gives you the ability to receive and act on pop-up notifications, pore over your messages, use preset responses to dash off messages and replies, connect your Facebook, Wunderlist or Evernote accounts from the menu in the Calendar view and even use voice dictation for a quick reply.

You could do these on your smartphone anyway, so what is the big perk though?

With the app now on the smartwatch, you no longer have to reach for your phone, or your tablet. Your Outlook is now strapped to your wrist, making it easier to access it.

To access Microsoft’s Outlook on your Android Wear, download the Outlook client app. free on the Google Play Store however, requires you to be running Android version 4.0.3 and up.

The feature was out last month and not everyone might have access to the feature yet as it is being rolled out in phases, and you can expect it, as it reaches all corners of the globe.

The new feature is certainly a welcomed one however it is maybe just a little late (the app has been available on the Apple Watch since last August). It is not a very big step either, however its importance lies in the fact that it is one of the bigger dedicated Android Wear apps to have come out lately.

Smart watches have not been able to cope with the everyday needs of the users as a standalone devices, and many of us have questioned the need for yet another device to remember to put on charge at night.

However the, Outlook app can change that for some users as the user can have a deeper interaction than just accessing unread notifications on their smartwatch.

Google’s smartwatch operating system has a smartwatch market share of about 15%. With Apple Watch having taken over the market in the last few months, the Android Wear is not getting too much attention lately. Microsoft bringing Outlook to the OS might be a great plus for it at this particular time.
