It’s adorable to use, but still not a complete replacement for a laptop.

We loved the original 12.9 inch iPad Pro when it came out in 2015, despite its large size. But the 2017 model is just adorable! If you’re willing to pay the amount they’re asking for, I can assure you that you’re in for an unparalleled feast.

The new iPad Pro (12.9) looks almost exactly like its predecessor, and yet a lot has changed. It has the same neat and efficient design, but you won’t believe how awesome the display is. While exceptionally good in the original, yet, this time it’s even better — it’s one of those things where you won’t know what you’re missing until you actually try it. True Tone and ProMotion Display render an absolutely flawless experience with the screen.
You’ll have to read our detailed review to know exactly how they work, though.

It’s not just the screen that’s been improved. There is barely any lag or latency anywhere. Both the hardware and software have been optimized to deliver the best possible performance. It’s impossible to talk about the full extent of that — you’ll have to use it to see it. And read our review to get some idea.

I can tell you with a fair degree of confidence — there is no better gadget out there if you want to binge on Netflix or stream HD content. Sure, there’s the iPad Pro 9.7, which has almost identical hardware, but the three additional inches of that beautiful LCD screen makes so much of a difference to viewing pleasure! It’s like comparing a 40 inch television with a 55 inch one. Which one would you prefer watching the next big match, or Game Of Thrones on?

Yet, that’s not the big question — the big question is about productivity and whether the iPad Pro (12.9) can replace a laptop for professional creatives.

My personal verdict? The iPad Pro (12.9) (2017) is great to use as a secondary device. You can make your projects here, almost to completion, but even with the Smart Keyboard, the iPad (12.9) (2017) is missing a few tricks that laptops crow about.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has the iPad trumped in this case — thanks to the mouse pointer, trackpad and desktop-emulating Windows 10 OS. But, to give the iPad Pro 12.09 the credit it deserves, it does fare better in some situations — the screen, the speakers, the no-heating benefits, and of course, the iOS ecosystem!

The Apple Pencil 2 and the Smart Keyboard that complete the set are great tools you’ll need to immerse yourself into your work on the new iPad Pro 12.9 — it’s too bad you don’t get them with the iPad itself, but you will need them if you’re going to be working on it. So get ready to spring for them too.

That being said, it’s no replacement for a laptop. Yet. But wait for iOS 11 and it might just astound you with its productivity!
