Our round up of possible upcoming announcements from Apple.

Okay, we’ve brought out our crystal ball, considering the recent news of Apple’s new patents.

Given the importance of an Apple release, and the cloud of curiosity around it, even a hint of news regarding Apple fast becomes everyone’s centre of attention. With all the rumours swirling about the iPhone 5SE, iPad Air 3, and new Apple Watch band options, the question now is of the when.

Our speculative date is Tuesday, 15th March, 2016.

The speculation is based on reports that Apple has got its preparations aligned to launch the products in the week of March 14th. If the launch takes place as an event, this would be Apple’s first media event since its September announcement of iPad Pro (12.9 inches), Apple TV with Siri and touch-capable remote, iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

The March event, much like the September event, would also focus on three major categorical announcements.

The first of these announcements would be the much-rumoured iPhone 5SE.
As we have previously discussed, the 5SE version of the iPhone brings to the Apple bandwagon a 4 inch phone with an advanced A9/M9 processor, an improved camera, and Apple Pay. The externals of this phone would perhaps not be much different from the iPhone 5s version model, except maybe slightly curved edges. With the 5SE model, Apple is also expected to stop the production as well as sales of the 5s model, but it would continue to offer support for these phones.

The second categorical announcement could possibly be of the iPad Air 3.
This would mark the first substantial upgrade to the 9.7 inch sized iPad in the middle range of iPads, since the October 2014 launch of iPad Air 2. In the time since, Apple has brought a major update for the iPad Mini and launched a larger sized iPad Pro.
A speaker grill could be one of the two primary hardware additions to the iPad, the second of which is expected to be an LED flash which would improve the photo-taking in dim-light conditions.

The upgrades to the iPad have been long due. With the competition putting in 15 and 20 megapixel cameras in their phones Apple has so far offered a max of 12 megapixels in their cameras, till now. The LED flash for the back camera is something that has been entirely missing from the iPads.

The company has, however, over the years, been working on gaining better cameras and improved photography as well as videography support. What is to ponder upon now is how and when will the company be able to bring this into their tablets. The added LED flash, is certainly, just the beginning to a much awaited series of camera upgrades to the entire range of Apple tablets.

The third categorical announcement could be of an upgrade to the Apple Watch. The first noticeable change would be of the bands. A few additions to the range of bands would be the rubberised Sport bands, new Hermès bands, a ‘space black’ version of the Milanese Loop, and perhaps a band made of a yet unknown material. Some reports have suggested that the company has been testing nylon for the new bands.

With Apple only offering limited bands for the watch, third parties are filling in the gap now, offering designer bands for the Apple Watch. Apple’s additions might make a considerable bump on that market.

The major upgrade to the watch however would be that of the software, with the WatchOS 2.2 update. The specifications of what all the software upgrade would bring are for now yet to be revealed.

Apple’s three major announcements are still in the pipeline and haven’t been reported ready yet. Though all arrows point to the products being ready for launch by April 15th, yet, just in case they aren’t, the company might turn the event into an online announcement.

The specifications of the event have not yet been confirmed by the company.
