Reflection 4–10th October
In this lecture we watched the documentary Designing the Decades- Designing the 1980’s. This documentary focused on postmodernism and how people dealt with the aftermath of the strict modernist rules.
What I like most about this document was the fact that it showed how people overcame the strict rules and constraints of modernism, Post modernism was very free and experimental.
One item that caught my eye in the documentary was the personal organiser the Filofax. This was a useful item to have in the 80’s for networking and you would store phone numbers and addresses in there. It was also fully customisation with a clipped binder in the middle so you could buy different pages or maps to put in your Filofax. It was a status symbol and showed self importance.
