I was asked to come up with a fresh new design for the Westland Bath website. I teamed up with my sister Elsa who dabbles in developing and Wordpress and together we were able to come up with a new and improved site.

My first design to upgrade was the logo. I loved the colors of the current logo so I decided I wouldn’t stray to far, but I did feel like the logo itself felt a little unprofessional. In my new design I cut the rounded edges and simplified the look a little.

I decided on a clean beautiful design for the logo. My client loved it and we implemented it into the design. Later he got a call from on of his marketing guys telling him that he just spent a bunch of money branding with the previous logo. My client decided it wasn’t worth losing that much money to rebrand so we abandoned the design and continued on with the old logo.

I used sketch to layout all of the original pages of the website. Then I began creating the new site. I would make 2 copies of each design. One for me, the designer and one for the developer. The one for the developer had the final design as well as the dimensions labeling each element.

I started out with my mobile design keeping my goal for simplicity and cleanliness at the front of my brain.

I created some new icons that were consistent with the color scheme. I softened some hard lines. I incorporated some gradient overlays for some aesthetic appeal. I even cleaned up some of the images.

My final design
I always make a copy of the design for the developer to show dimensions, fonts, colors etc.
I won’t show all of the pages I designed but another one of my favorites was the spa page. I created icons for the spas to replace the inconsistent pictures
We had a google drive folder to share all of the elements including images, icons, and designs.

I was very happy with the outcome. We ended up needing to stick to a similar layout due to the constrictive Wordpress theme. However my job was to come up with a cleaner more professional looking site and I really feel like I accomplished that.

I am also very happy to report that this site has receive lots of great feedback. This business has multiplied its amount of visitors to their website as well as callers for their product. I am really learning a lot about the importance of a clean aesthetic design.
