This is a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition”. Head back to the start, or read the previous chapter, ‘Double Trouble’ by JF Danskin.

Your enemy circles you again. “This is a bad beat for you! Looks like I win at last.”

“I thought you’d forgotten about me, Zaroph.”

They step closer, narrowing their eyes. You flail, trying to punch Zaroph, but the net holds you.

“Forgotten? You married my beloved. Now I’m the rescuing hero.”

“But the orcs…”

Before you finish speaking, you see it all. Zaroph was behind the orc attack. And now you’ve helped by killing the orcs.

Now they grin again. “When the village is rebuilt, there will be a great statue to me… where your house used to be.”

The End.

Oof!! Bad luck. Not the most positive of endings. But you can always go back and try again, choosing a different options. At the time of writing, the story is still a work in progress, but new chapters are being added fast.
