Lorenzo points at your neck, and the surrounding shadows coil around your throat.
You tilt your head back, its movement strained. “I’ll escort you there in exchange for my freedom.”
The burning sensation returns, like boiling blood under the skin.
One month is too long…
“You are in no position to bargain.”
“You must… survive the forest to get to the labyrinth.” Your throat tightens. “I can… fight.”
The blood mage studies your face, then releases his hold. “I’m amazed by the strength of your spirit when faced with death.“ He gestures to the cave’s exit. “Lead the way.”
