It’s a while since you’ve driven to Albuquerque. In fact, you ask yourself, have you ever done so? Your memories… it’s hard to separate reality from dreams. You recall a cybernetic enhancement. Is something malfunctioning?

You make the freeway. Signs all point one way, like there are no other cities. Rain lashes down.

You turn into the suburbs, expecting to see apartment blocks, but all you see are ruins, with military vehicles patrolling. Beyond, crowds hurry, heads down, shepherded by troopers.

You are signalled to stop, and get out.

“Enhanced?” A trooper scans you.

“Uh…huh.”

He waves you on.
