A Trump and Pence Coup

Trump and Pence have been saying, whenever asked, that they may not agree with the results of the election. They have gone as far to say that they only way they will recognize the results is if they win. Trump feels he is President, and like his friend Putin, he gets to decide which of the millions of votes count. Main-in ballots, and votes for Biden don’t count. He will not approve of that.

Until very recently, I was also very frightened about what was going to happen in this country the day after the election. What if Biden wins, but it’s close in many states? What if Biden loses? What if Trump wins again by tiny margins in just the right swing states? What if the polls are correct and the vote, and the Electoral College isn’t close?

But, ever since Trump got sick, there has been a shift in the way things are covered, in the way people are reacting to Trump, and just as importantly, in the way Republicans are responding. This shift became stronger with the arrest of the men who were planning to kidnap the Governor of Michigan.

Instead of being frightened of Trump and his zealot followers, people are getting tired of him. His campaign has no substance, other than he has survived the virus, and maybe you could too. He, and the Republicans, have no other policies or agenda that they want to implement. They just want to keep their corruption going.

It seems that most people don’t even care about that. The country and the world is sick of the noise, the posturing and the lies. They also can plainly see that his lies are dangerous, and that he doesn’t care.

It seems that almost everyone who believes in science, who can write a complete sentence, and who has a child or a parent, has come out against Trump. The people who have gone on record now includes almost every Republican who ran against him in the early primaries, the Republican strategists who now run the Lincoln Project, the Republican group that once worked for Trump but now has left him. Dozens of retired Generals, of retired Intelligence officers, former USDA’s who are against both Trump and Barr, and even the New England Journal of Medicine, which has never taken a political stance in 200 years. And now there are hundred of billboards showing white guys with beards who voted for Trump last time, but won’t do it again.

Mitch McConnell has pulled away, saying he won’t go near the White House. Even Martha McSally, in her debate with her Democratic opponent for Senate Mark Kelly, would not give a clear answer when asked if she was still proud of her strong allegiance to Trump. She pivoted to something else.

Also, Trump is a coward. He doesn’t put up a good fight. He talks about how tough he is, but, as we have seen from his dealings with everyone, he is terrible in a confrontation. He runs away from fights after he yells threats. He fires people by Tweet. He can yell louder than anyone, but he doesn’t make sense.

The Governors, even of the Red States, don’t want to have crazy gangs of armed White Supremacists ruling the streets on, and after election day. The FBI knows who they are. The real militia, the National Guard, is better trained and equipped. It wouldn’t be much of a fight, but it would be very sad for our nation, and maybe Trump would end up in jail.

I’m not guaranteeing that their won’t be trouble. These are very crazy times. But even Wm. Barr is not releasing the Dunham Report. He has gone silent. Right now, I just want to get this election over with. I now think that 80% of Americans agree.
