“It’s a day with Daddy, is it?” — Here we go again…
I’m not outraged, offended or in any way concerned. It’s just interesting.
Pretty much weekly, as I “do my thing”, someone asks my kids “so it’s a day with Dad today, is it?”.
Since I work from home and my wife works not-from-home, a “day with Dad” is most days.
Sometimes I explain this, sometimes I don’t.
The topic for reflection today though is this: what do you think when you see a father out with his kids?
Do you think “oh that’s nice, that Dad’s taken a day off to spend with his kids”?
Perhaps it’s “they must be on holidays from somewhere”.
Or if you’re the concerned type and I’m at the playground with my kids, perhaps you think “better keep an eye on that male person — not sure I trust him”.
Maybe it’s none of these. But do you notice it as something that stands out?
Be honest. What do you really think when you see a Dad with his kids if it’s not the weekend?
And what does that say about you?
Because it really doesn’t say anything at all about me…
