This weekend in NYC for NBA All Star Weekend I showed a few friends the Beta Samsung Gear VR. Unfortunately, the headset currently looks like you could be the 3rd member of Daft Punk once you put it on, but that’s simply because Virtual Reality hasn’t gone mainstream…

Surprisingly, the reaction I saw from people trying VR for the first time was the complete opposite of their appearance wearing them.

It could pretty much be summed up like this :

I had to ask them if their expressions were sarcastic due to the genuine amazement each person experienced when they put on the goggles. They were serious.

Welcome to Virtual Reality.

Right now VR headsets are super early for consumers, but the opportunity seems equivalent to the 1st Generation iPod when it was the size of a brick and people couldn’t initially understand the impact it would have on music and culture. Similar to the way iPod redefined audio, VR headsets will certainly change the way we watch movies, schedule meetings, view museums or pictures, and experience life.

btw Apple just filed a patent to create their own VR headset…and if you want to see VR for a low price check out Google Cardboard

Health. Wealth. Positivity. Prosperity.
